Background Background
The Scottish Practice Learning Project,(SPLP) was set up to deliver the recommendations of “Confidence in Practice Learning”. The SPLP was a joint initiative between the SSSC and the Scottish Institute for Excellence in Social Work Education and reported to the Practice Learning Implementation Group (PLIG).
The SPLP had three objectives:
- To promote the development of a learning culture throughout social work and social care, including the development of learning centres.
- To work with key stakeholders to increase the quality, variety and quantity of practice learning opportunities
- To review the practice teaching award and develop an alternative modular award.
These objectives were supported by a number of key messages which underpinned the SPLP’s communication and engagement with its stakeholders and included the ongoing theme that it is everybody’s business to support practice learning.
The SPLP undertook and completed a wide range of tasks and these are noted in the achievements section.
Ongoing objectives have now been mainstreamed into the work of the Scottish Social Services Council and will be undertaken by the Regulation and Practice Learning Team.
In particular the development of PLQSS will be completed and work will be undertaken to ensure its delivery, quality assurance and promotion .Current work on the mapping ,funding and quality assurance of practice learning opportunities will also be continued.
