Learning Networks Scottish Social Services Learning Network
What is the purpose of the Learning Networks? The purpose of the Regional Learning Networks is to support the learning and development of staff working in social services in Scotland. Their vision is that the whole social service workforce in Scotland is sufficiently trained and supported to provide consistently excellent services to those who use their services. In order to accomplish this, the Networks are working towards establishing a sustainable learning culture for the social service workforce.
The SSSC has a role in both monitoring their progress in meeting national aims (through the Workforce Development Team) and in offering developmental advice and support (through the Regulation and Practice Learning Team). The Learning Networks are currently funded by the Scottish Executive.
Each of the regional Networks is tasked with implementing four national aims:
• To embed a culture of learning and continuing employee development in the social services workforce
• To support registration and post-registration needs of social services staff
• To increase quality, quantity and diversity of practice learning opportunities
• To help stakeholders achieve workforce planning and development
The Learning Networks provide information and support in a wide range of areas including Learning and Development, Registration, Practice Learning, Stakeholder involvement and Workforce Planning.
